July Challenges

Happy summer everyone! I have to say, the absolute best thing about living in Minnesota are our amazingly gorgeous summers! Living on a lake has it's perks too!

Here's a page I did documenting our trip to the Redwoods National Park. I used my Silhouette to draw and cut some tree rings and misted/distressed the background paper. I'm entering it in  Scrap Our Stash's Tic Tac Toe Challenge (I used twine, Red/White/Blue and numbers).

Once again I'm having some real fun using the Simple Stories Cabin Fever collection to document my recent trip to California! Thanks to Let's Get Sketchy for the great sketch and the Blue/Read color scheme. I'm also grateful to Challenge YOUrself for the handwriting challenge! I often want to hide mine, but I know its important to document our memories!

More Simple Stories! <---Yep! You're going to be seeing a lot of this collection for this month! This layout was inspired by Brenda's sketch and Rochelle's color scheme using brown, red and navy blue.

Thanks Stuck?! sketches for the inspiration on this one! Check out their sketch:

This page was inspired by Paper Issues free cut files (which are always fabulous!). I was challenged to use the geo star, but with this specific layout felt that it would be better as a subtle background element. The journaling reads: "There are few places in this life where we can enjoy true solitude. I found a few quiet moments here in the Redwood National Forest. The beating waves combined with a soft breeze created a lasting memory. Redwoods National Forest.

Thanks to all these blogs for the fun challenges!

June Challenges

Yay for SUMMER! I'm so excited for all the fun things we have planned this summer! I can't wait to go and spend time with my family at our lake home, and enjoy some good cookouts with friends! I hope you're excited for some fun things this summer too!

My first layout was inspired by The ScrapRoom's sketch challenge. This was certainly not an easy challenge for me, but I loved it once it was complete! I used the new Illustrates Faith "You are so loved" line to showcase a few photos of my dad! He was so sweet to come and visit us in Florida and then drive our car all the way back to Minnesota! <---Real props to this road warrior!

I was also inspired by Grand Diva's Subway Art challenge and included the phrase, "Makes me laugh. Makes me smile." into my journaling. Colorful Creations also inspired me to dig out some of my old alphas (the green "is", twine and rhinestones) and mix them with this new line!  Thanks for all the fun!

Layout number 2 was inspired by the 123 Challenge Blog. I really liked that this challenge had so many creative possibilities! I used white paint, the word "Love" and glitter/rhinestones to bling up the page. Thanks for the fun challenge!

My third layout was inspired by Let's Get Sketchy's sketch challenge. I took a more simplistic approach to the design, but I'm happy with how it turned out!

Finally layout #4 was inspired by the sketch at Stuck?! sketches. I had a flowery cut file that I had been wanting to use and thought that this would be the perfect layout for it! I used chalk to change it to the colors I wanted and viola! A pretty good looking page! Thanks for looking!

May Challenges

Happy May!
Yay! The month all of us teachers have been waiting for (t-minus 13 days and counting for my school)!

Thanks Scrap Our Stash for the fun tic-tac-toe board. I used a journal card, the color yellow and 3 patterned papers. I cut the "lattice" with my Silhouette and then used different chalks to to color it.

I loved this new "Faith" line from Simple Stories. It was perfect to document this time of my life. God has been teaching me so many lessons about trusting Him. It's always important to look back and remember our victories. So, even though I'm still walking through the unknown, I will look back at remember how He saw me through each and every challenge.

I also used the Simple Stories Faith line for the challenges from Let's Scrap Sketches and Let's Get Sketchy and created this layout.  I used the sketch from Let's Get Sketchy and Tania's beautiful mixed media ideas as a spring board to create this layout. I then embellished the page using the Tic-Tac-Toe grid from Let's Scrap Sketches (hearts, the color gold and brads).

I've also been playing with my new Fuse tool and decided to create a photo sleeve to contain my main picture, glitter and journaling. I added another picture underneath the flap because I had a color copy of the same photo and couldn't decide which one I liked better! Haha!

Using my Fuse tool I sealed this photo sleeve and added some glitter for a fun punch.

Here is what the journaling inset looks like!

Thanks so much for swinging by my blog! Have a great week!

April Challenges

April showers bring May flowers! <---We've definitely been having our fair share of showers this week here in Florida, but rainy days are usually good scrapping days! :)

For my first challenge this month I wanted to use Sketch #305 from Creative Scrappers as my base.

I also knew I wanted to use a bright color scheme which fit in nicely with Picture This' green + white challenge. So here's my design:

I also loved Scrap Our Stash's sketch challenge this month! I included F-flowers, L-light pink paper, O-outline with pen, W-white matting, E-enamel dot (green dot by flower) & R-roses (patterned paper). I'm also entering this one in Colorful Creations "All About Me" challenge. Here's me as a 1 year old! I inherited a box of old family photos and have slowly started scrapbooking them! :)

Thanks also to Let's Get Sketchy for the fun sketch and mood board! I loved the inspiration and flow of the circles (I decided to use flowers) in the layout so I paired it with this four generation photo of my aunt, grandma, great-grandma and great-great-grandma from 1964.  There is nothing more special than preserving my family's heritage photos.

Thanks for swinging by!

March 15th Challenges!

Whew! Halfway through March! Crazy right?! Bring on Spring!

I loved the second challenge from Scrap Our Stash this month and decided to play along. Here's my take on the sketch and the things I used for the word CHARM included cardstock, heart, arrow, ribbon/reel and Mickey paper/matted photo.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I also found a few new challenges to participate in! Thanks to Picture This, ARTastic and 123 Challenge for this inspiration

Picture This: I loved the gold dots included in the mood board and I had some straws from American Crafts that also had some gold dots! I've been wanting to use these straws on a layout so badly so I'm glad I found one that worked! Check out their mood board here:

ARTastic: I really loved Tone's Design Team layout and wanted to mimic something similar with different shades of blue. I loved her vertical lines and stenciling. Thanks for the inspiration Tone! Here's the painting that provided inspiration for the challenge!

123 Challenge: I included brown, the word FUN and the brown strips in between the straws are borders from the edges of some Kaisercraft paper.

Thanks for swinging by my blog!

March 1st Challenges!

Hello everyone and happy March! I'm thankful we're "marching" right on into SPRING! Yay for flowers, birds and warmer weather! <---and SPRING BREAK for this teacher!

This month I'm entering in some new challenges! My layout was inspired by the wonderful ladies at Stuck?! sketches. My colors were inspired by the colors chosen by Another Colorful Creation along with the mood board/stitching challenge from Off the Rails Scrapbooking and finally two Tic-Tac-Toe boards from Rochelle Spears' Blogspot (Tag, 3+ patterned papers, cork, gold, circles) & Scrap Our Stash (Crate Paper, gold, charm).

Thanks so much for all the great challenges! I was really inspired! :)

Go BIG!

Hey everyone! I wanted to brighten your day with a quick creative idea! I recently had the opportunity to go swimming with some of the manatees here in Florida. Soooo exciting right?! It was definitely awesome and I tried my best to capture the experience using my small GoPro. Unfortunately the pictures that I took weren’t that great of quality (due to the clarity of the water) but I wanted to figure out a way to still document the experience…so I decided to go with a BIG title.

Using my Silhouette Cameo I decided to cut the word MANATEE in big bold outline style letters.

I then backed the letters M, A & E with some of the pictures from the day.

For the rest of the letters I backed them with random scraps that fit into the color scheme!

I added some journaling, paint and a few embellishments to finish it off. Viola! Another great page to add to your gallery!

Give it a shot ladies! Try it out and go BIG!
